NEW DELHI, India — Udhyam Vyapaar announced that its Istri Project has enabled ironing vendors across India to achieve a cumulative income increase of ₹100 crore. The initiative helps street-side vendors switch from coal-based to LPG-powered irons at subsidised rates, reducing fuel costs by nearly half and adding up to two hours of productivity daily.
Since its launch, the project has expanded to five cities, supporting over 8,000 vendors and cutting about 6,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. Co-founder Krishnan Ranganathan said the milestone highlights the impact of localized livelihood solutions, while Program Head Cyril Joseph called it “a movement improving both incomes and the environment.”
